Be a Responsible Traveler With Intrepid Travel

The Intrepid Travel story started in 1988 thanks to two mates from Melbourne who decided to turn their biggest passion – travel, into their job. Since the very beginning, their business has operated in a responsible manner and incorporated principles of sustainable tourism and development. It’s committed to making a real difference in the world by investing in local communities, human rights initiatives, wildlife conservation projects, and the environment. They are a carbon-neutral business since 2010, they invested over AU $5 million into grassroots projects addressing issues such as healthcare, education, community development, and animal welfare around the world and are committed to promoting gender equality and child protection. If that doesn’t responsible enough, then we’ll also point out that they were the first global tour operator to end elephant rides and bringing awareness to the cruelty of lion walks.

„Small groups, big adventures, and responsible travel – that’s our thing.“ Today they operate across 100 countries and offer 1,000 trips in a variety of styles such as cycling, food, adventure cruising, polar etc. Their offer is shaped around the idea that travelers need a balance of inclusions and free time, a mix of classic highlights and local secrets, and authentic real-life experience. Their tour guides are born and raised in-country – the ones who know their countries back to front. As they perfectly state, all that it takes to accomplish sustainability is „a little dash of self-awareness, a slightly softer tread“.
