The Republic of Kiribati: A New Untouched Tourism Potential

The Republic of Kiribati is a sovereign state situated in Micronesia in the central Pacific Ocean. It comprises 32 atolls and reef islands, and one raised coral island, Banaba. As a tourism destination, Kiribati is for those with a passion for exploring, people who like adventure far off the tourist track in an untouched and original paradise.

The government of Kiribati plans to utilize yet another tourism jewel, the island of Nikumaroro. According to some experts, this island might hold the key to unlocking the mystery of Amelia Earhart’s disappearance. Amelia Earhart was an American aviator who, along with her co-pilot Fred Noonan, disappeared while attempting to circumnavigate the world in 1937 after they took off from Lae in what’s now Papua New Guinea. National Geographic television network conducted an expedition on the island in August, led by the man who discovered the Titanic shipwreck. No conclusive evidence on Amelia Earhart’s plane was found.
